We Have A New Template!

At the moment, you are looking at the beta version of the NEW look for the HART-Empire Network. For 2008, I plan to roll out similar templates to all my sites around the network. For all “Battling For Health” series of blogs, the templates will be quite similar with the same colors and general feel - with, each blog’s uniqueness adding to it’s growth. All readers from any health blog will now be able to quickly jump to another health blog, via the links at the top of the page.

While this template is up and running, it still is in BETA version, and I would be interested in your opinions and suggestions about the useability of this site. There are a few new things being created or in development - and, a few things forgone from the old template. We have a couple of things in this new template that might take an extra second to load, but have installed a plugin to cache these pages and images and the overall experience should be a positive one, and faster!

All of my accounts were scheduled to migrate to the new Dedicated Server August 1, 2007 .. because system resources were just not capable of handling all of my blogs on the Virtual Private Server.

In addition to the delay in the actual migration .. there were delays in changing the IP redirection of the nameservers which points all of my sites on the internet.

I placed a little message on the “real” data’s template … and finally see it on this site

My GALLERY doesn’t seem to work anymore.

It was working a few moments ago, but then I upgraded this blog to the latest wordpress version 2.2 and now it’s not working.

Worse yet .. the author’s site is down or removed, so I can’t see if there is any updates available. I’m getting this error message:

NOTICE:

Effective June 4-8th week there will be no new postings. You might have already seen a slowdown in this blog since the last week of May 2007 - it is all related. I am in the process of moving all my accounts to a new host provider this week (MidPhase) and there may be times during this switchover that this site may not be accessible. I assure you that this will be temporary, and I will take all the efforts to make this transition go as smooth as possible. I’m giving myself the entire week for this move and the switchover basically, because I’ve got a lot of blogs to be moved! I apologize for any inconveniences in advance, and hope you please bear with me during this time.

In the meantime, I have decided to just combine my monthly “Sponsorship Appreciation” posts with this message to keep you informed.

If you didn’t know this .. offline I am an accountant, bookkeeper and income tax preparer (besides “consultant and blogger and pet owner” titles) .. and here in Canada, personal income tax returns (T1) are due April 30th. That is, of course, unless one is self-employed .. then the deadline to file a return is June 15th, but payment is due by April 30th. Corporation income tax returns (T2) are due six months after the year end, although payment is usually due by the end of the third or second month following the company’s year end (depending on circumstances).

As I look at my TO DO LIST … it would seem that I’ve got 87 items in my “To Do” list to be completed before April 30th .. and every day new items are being added! The biggest problem is NOT the actual work or workload .. it’s the scheduling of the meetings and getting the work out of my (home) office and out to the client!

* Week 13 and the HART SERIES will resume back after this Wednesday .. and now will be summarized once a week (or so) in one general post. I will be changing my weigh-in (Yes - I did weigh in Monday Morning) to a new day and time .. Saturday Mornings, first thing from now on. This will leave me time to recap my week’s efforts over the weekend and keep everyone informed of my progress. Also, it will align myself with the weekly weigh ins of my wife, who likes to weigh in BEFORE weekend dinners and other family gatherings

I suppose I should apologize for not keeping up with this on a daily basis, although deep down the apology is really to myself for being unable to post on a daily basis. I continue to count points, keep track and take pictures of my daily meals and I’m even exercising now on some fitness equipment in my basement.

I have now successfully completed the upgrade to the latest wordpress version 2.1

There were more than the usual amount of plugins activated prior to the update, and I have not only deactivated some that were known not to be compatible .. but I have added a few new plugins.

While I was tinkering with the files and data, I’ve decided to resize 100% of the photos that were previously inside this blog to a maximum of 1000px wide by 1000px height. Basically, that translated to reducing my pictures of about 650kb size to about 120kb in size. I figured that I would only have about 1.4 years left of daily pictures of my meals to upload, before I would have to upgrade this account’s hard disk space .. or resize all of the pictures anyway. I think that this maximum size is still sufficient to review closer details of my delicious dinners (and other camera shots) and the savings will be enormous over time.
