These remaining 35 weekly splurge points are definately an indication of how my success is doing, but when you are 21 points OVER .. I can only be up in weight, not down.

p2130008.JPGI think I’ve got to ask my wife to stop buying me these Kellogg’s Nutrigrain Sweet & Salty Chocolatey Almond Bars. The point value is 3 points per bar, but I’m eating them as if they are 2 points and filling up on them. I’ve slowed down on the salads and the oranges. But .. GEESH .. those Pearson Nut Roll Bars that I really like - are 8 points each.

I’m glad that I ended up with 13 unused splurge flex points, because in my mind that was my goal for the week.

Reflection:

My plan this week was .. not to go in excess of 15 into my splurge flex points .. however, I ended up going over by 14 and ate 49 splurge points. But, I did some walking and exercise this week moving files up and down from the 2nd floor to the basement. I wonder what it would have been like if I didn’t eat all that stuff on Saturday, but you know how it is at relative’s birthday party days .. But, I did eat lots - but in moderation.

I call this past week a success.

Reflection

After the Sunday Dinner at my folks place last night, and then weighing myself first thing in the morning .. I thought I would be up more than just 0.5 lbs ..so I should be happy

But - I’m not happy. This past week has been quite stressful (offline work-wise) .. I’m not exercising .. I’m not cutting back .. I’ve noticed that I’ve been keeping my notebad with my camera, and the last few days I have posted my points on the following day rather than before I go to sleep. AS such, by morning I forget my notepad up here in the office next to my computer. I eat, and then have to remember to write it down when I get back to my computer - but, it should be that I remember to write it down and then eat.

So - I’ve decided to “step” it up in February by the following:

* Leave both my camera and notepad downstairs and write down the meal points before I eat it. If I don’t, before you know it I will be more forgetful taking pictures! (or NOT! I enjoy taking pictures of my meals, even though it must be boring to you all)

* Mentally cut-back the 35 splurge points to 15 and try not to exceed that amount on a weekly basis. I’m not trying to maintain my weight .. I am trying to lose weight.

* Superstore was advertising those really cheap electric treadmills .. I think I will pop by on the weekend and check it out - to see if it’s sturdy enough for me, and by “electric” .. to see if they meant the treadmill is electric, or some attachment like heart monitor etc or watch is the electric part of it. If/when I get one - I’ll take a picture for the blog here.

Reflection

I was worried that I was border line, with only 2 splurge flex points and given my last two days of eating .. Boston Pizza .. chocolates … Tim Hortons .. Chocolates .. But - I counted and measured everything .. It is interesting how close it is.

Reflection

Despite movie popcorn day on Saturday and an open faced chili burger Sunday dinner … I think this past week is what I would like my typical eating week to be like. Rather than me averaging out the extra 35 weekly splurge or “flex” points and have something like 37 points per day limit, I want to try to keep under my daily 32 points .. and maybe (if it happens) splurge on a Saturday night with my bonus points. And, then keep it back in control for Sunday and my Monday morning weigh in.

I’ve added a ticker at the top of this column, from TickerFactory.com .. to visually display the cumulative amount of weight that I will have lost since January 1, 2007. I will update it every week as I go along! I just set the maximum time length to be 100 pounds, although I think technically, according to some standards - that’s probably close to how much weight I should be losing anyway .. and not be classified as “obese”.

Reflection

Well DOWN is good. If I can lose 1.5 lbs per week that’s 78 lbs by Xmas 2007! I still felt bloated this morning, but I was eating broccolli last night and drinking lots of water so, it could be related.
